Dear Netkit users,
thanks to the contribution by Alessio Di Fazio and Paolo Minasi, a
graphical environment for easily setting up Netkit labs is now
available. The project is called VisualNetkit, and the source code can
be downloaded from the Contributed Downloads area
(http://www.netkit.org/download-contribs.html) as well as from the
official page of the project, hosted at Google Code
(http://code.google.com/p/visual-netkit/).
By using VisualNetkit, it is possible to set up, save, or edit Netkit
labs in a very simple and intuitive way. VisualNetkit has a plugin
architecture that allows to selectively enable the required
functionalities on each network element (virtual machine, collision
domain, link/interface). For example, if a network interface just serves
sniffing purposes, the IP plugin can be simply disabled on that interface.
At present VisualNetkit does not support importing existing Netkit labs:
only the labs that have been created with VisualNetkit itself can be
opened for editing.
Regards,
The Netkit Team.
