Dear Julien,

yes, indeed there are issues with the default amount of memory assigned
to virtual machines when using DNS related tools. You can override the
default by assigning a proper value to the NETKIT_MEMORY environment
variable or by editing your netkit.conf file.

Of course, we will reconsider the defaults in the next release. Thank
you for reporting this.

Regards,
Massimo.

OK, speaking too fast.
dig/nslookup don't work even after correct installation of dnsmasq. The
only solution is to increase the memory of each vm:
pc1[mem]=24
Is it a problem because I install dnsmasq (it doesn't start, as I remove
/etc/rc*.d/S* links) or dig / nslookup didn't work before this (no time
to try ;-)

Ok, found a way:
1> use old dnsmasq package from debian etch repository:
dpkg -i libdbus-1-3_1.0.2-1+etch2_i386.deb
dpkg -i dnsmasq_2.35-1+etch4_i386.deb
2> remove /etc/rc*.d/ starting dnsmasq
unlink /etc/rc2.d/S15dnsmasq
unlink /etc/rc3.d/S15dnsmasq
unlink /etc/rc4.d/S15dnsmasq
unlink /etc/rc5.d/S15dnsmasq
Well, You have now dnsmasq and a working dig / dnslookup

Hello,
I've add a new package in my netkit-fs and I've now the following error:

pc2:~# dig
dig: isc_taskmgr_create: no available threads
pc2:~# nslookup
(null): isc_taskmgr_create: no available threads

Seems to be related to the new package (dnsmasq), but I dunno how to
correct this error. A message in the mailling-list in August 2005 but
seems related to tls support in kernel, not present in the release 4.0.
Note: i didn't update the whole fs, maybe it's why. But I can't be sure
the FS will continue to work, has anyone has tried a full update of the
nekit-fs ?
PS: by the way dnsmasq is a good candidate for the next netkit-fs. It's
a very simple DHCP / DNS server and permit to configure a simple local
network without the complicated bind or dhcpd.
