Hi Pete,

Saverio is right: there are several ways to make changes to the virtual machine setups persistent.
One is to set up a Netkit lab (see http://wiki.netkit.org/netkit-labs/netkit_introduction/netkit-introduction.pdf), and you can also use the ones published on the Netkit web site as a starting point (http://wiki.netkit.org/index.php/Labs_Official).
The other one is to make a permanent change to the filesystem used for all Netkit virtual machines. The latter option is more advisable if you are going to install some software piece which you know you will need in all your future experiments. Information is available here: http://wiki.netkit.org/index.php/FAQ#How_can_I_install.2Fupgrade_packages_or_other_additional_software_inside_Netkit.3F

Regards,
Massimo
