R: [Netkit.users] display problem

Dear Mauro,

this issue is not related to your X server configuration. Telnetting to the
bgp daemon does not attempt to open any window as bgpd does not need X at
all. Most probably the problem is related to the way host aliases are
configured inside virtual machines (you're experiencing this inside virtual
machines, aren't you?). If nobody tells the kernel resolver that "0"
corresponds to "127.0.0.1", I guess there are very few chances for you to
connect to local running servers.

The solution is either to use 127.0.0.1 instead of 0 (your choice), or to
alter the /etc/hosts file (inside virtual machines) in order to add a new
entry that looks like the following:
127.0.0.1 0

I know that some labs describe experiences using "telnet 0 bgpd". We (the
Netkit Team) will fix these descriptions as soon as possible.

Hope this helps,
Massimo.

I had this trouble using telnet with the zebra daemon, I guess that's
something regarding my X server configuration: when I ask telnet to connect
to 0 with bgpd I receive an error message, something like "cannot resolve
0". It works fine only if I use loopback address instead of 0.
