[GDNET] GD Steering committee elections: Phase 1 (call for nominations)

Dear Graph Drawing and Network Visualization Community,

According to the bylaws [1] of the International Symposium on Graph Drawing and Network Visualization (GD), we need to elect two new steering committee (SC) members for the 3-year period 2021-2023. The steering committee is in charge for the continuing development of the symposium, which includes the appointment of PC chairs and organizers. More information about the SC and its current members can found on the graphdrawing.org webpage [2].

The SC member elections will be held in a 2-phase process. In phase 1 we solicit nominations of community members as candidates for the steering committee. In phase 2, each eligible voter [3] can vote for up to two candidates from the nominated candidate pool.

This time, the elections are run by myself with the help of Carla Binucci as an election trustee. I am stepping down from the steering committee and will not be available as a candidate in the elections.

In phase 1, any member of the GD community can nominate up to five candidates. We will contact the nominated candidates and ask them for their willingness to serve on the SC, should they get elected in phase 2. If more than ten persons are nominated, we will contact the top nominees until a candidate pool of up to ten candidates is confirmed.

In phase 2 we will hold an electronic, secret election of nominees from phase 1, and the two candidates with the most votes will join the SC for the next 3-year period. 

We are now entering phase 1. Please send an email with up to five names as your nominations to the address gd-sc-nominations at ac.tuwien.ac.at or reply to this email. The nomination period will end in two weeks, on February 8, 2021 (AOE).
